New Documentary The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson On Netflix Soon

The Documentary “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson” by David France is a film that takes on the death and life of a legendary beloved icon of the transgender world. It’s been over 25 years since the death of Marsha P. Johnson and now there is a documentary that hits on the death and life of Johnson who was by the side of Sylvia Rivera in the trans-rights movement in the 60’s and 70’s. Marsha and Sylvia founded the first trans rights organization called STAR (Street Transvestites Action Revolutionaries) in 1970.

Marsha P. Johnson’s life sadly ended when she was found floating in the Hudson River in New York City. The sad part is the New York Police did not investigate her death. Her death was ruled a suicide without any investigation and many of Johnson’s friends believe she was murdered. What happened that day she was found dead or murdered?

The film “The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson” will be featured on Netflix later this year.  David France said he made this film so Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson’s legacy would live on forever, and show people how these two greatly impacted the lives of the LGBT community today.
